The Peregrine Project

The peregrine falcon was the inspiration for this project and blog. On top of being one of the most formidable birds of prey, it was also a migrant. Peregrine means alien, traveler or passer-by. I want to provide content from the perspective of a traveler or migrant. After all, our lives are but a vapor in the wind. We are here today and gone tomorrow. All we have is this moment.

Don't let go

I recently watched a TED talk on the 5 lessons rock climbing can teach us. In the video they said that 97% of the time climbers let go before their body has to. Lot of this has to do with controlling their fall. It is fascinating that our minds struggle with pushing ourselves to our limits due to our fears. We have a safety mechanism that doesn't allow us to truly push ourselves. While in Kentucky climbing, I couldn't help but think of that stat. I found that the best way to over come a difficult section was to ironically slow down and make your moves calculated and controlled. When I slowed down I would realize I could actually hold on longer then I had originally thought. I would also make better choices on holds and positions. My body would function closer to it's limit.
